After a few months of traning and decoding, our children can pretty much read in English. They just love it and profit to show it in every situation they can.
In addition to this, they have learnt the different means of transport we can have by air, land or water.
The special activity we have had for Easter has been to look for words in the garden, to read them out loud and to go searching for more. Consecuently, the Easter Bunny has left them chocolate eggs in the class:))))) They can really readdddddddddd!!!!
We have been recently teaching the children to familiarize with the sounds in English. The similarities and most importantly, the differences. They seem to perfectly understand how they work, the multiple exceptions and the «Tricky Words». They are very motivated.
Our Cultural Week is about to finish. As the concluding activity we have accomplished 2 more activities they loved. The first one was to carry buckets of water in teams without dropping them on the floor. Then we changed the small buckets for a bigger one. The objective of this activity was to make them aware of the weight and difficulty of transporting water for kilometres, as 1/3 of the population inthe world does. The other activity was to work in groups drawing situations in which we use water on a daily basis and also to make them create solutions on how to save water.
These two past weeks we have being doing lots of activities related to our Cultural Week proyect: WATER. We have learnt the importance of clean water for the human being, the amount of clean water in the world and in our own bodies, the lack of resources in other countries, the use we make about it, the way we can save it and preserve it on a daily basis… They are so aware. It is amazing the amount of vocabulary and knowledge they can acquire and share. Now, they are perfectly comfortable talking about the water cycle amongst other fenomena.
Estimado padres:
After studying for two weeks the different types of food, by cathegories (fruit, vegetables, dairy products, junk food…) and by a healthy or unhealthy nature of the products, we have decided to create our own homemade butter cookies, all thanks to Lindley and her cooking skills.
