In the Orange class we are singing our hello song and looking at the «Where is Spot» book together. The Red class are enjoying the Rainbow song, using coloured pencils to act it out with a partner. I will try and video it next week because they are making such a good job of it that it´s worth seeing. In the Green class they have learnt a new colour song which includes actions. Also, we have been busy with making colour spinners.
Welcome, to all new readers, and welcome back, to all readers of this English blog for parents or carers of the children in the Orange, Red and Green class in infants and Year 1 and  Year 2 in primary. Our English classes started on Monday 8 September, apart from in the Orange class, where we are just getting to know eachother. At all levels we have been working on listening skills, which come in use when learning another language. We played a series of listening games which prooved to be very popular, and encouraged a concentrated kind of listening. In Year 1 and Year 2 we are gradually moving on to enhancing the time spent communicating in English and reducing the time we spend in Spanish. It is indeed quite a challenge for both teacher and children. Presently, we have Lindley working with us for some of the English classes. Almudena returns from her maternity leave on 21 October and will be rejoining us in our English classes.
The Orange class have been out to the garden with a checklist of the different natural features that we have been working on and were  delighted to find them and tick them off on their list. The photos below show the children playing a little game that we made up that involves listening and following the instructions as indicated:
Put the ladybug on the tree.
Put the spider on the stone etc….

In the Orange class we have designed little actions to help us with the new words and the childrens´ comprehension has really progressed. We enjoyed dancing and then, when the music stops, the children listen and respond with the appropiate action.

Children in the Orange class remain fascinated with the bugs project so we are moving on to familiarize ourselves with the habitat where bugs dwell. The new vocabulary  is the following: leaf, stick, stone, tree, flower.
