Dear families:

I am Ángela, the new English and French teacher in pre-school and early primary and I’m so glad to  have the opportunity to teach your little ones!

As you may already know, this is my first year at Alquería, so I’m getting to know my little students and help them get used to their new teacher as soon as possible.

Thus (as you can imagine) last week has been a bit of a «restart» in language classroom, during which time we’ve been reviewing previous contents in English, especially the greetings song and introductions .
I am quickly learning their names and a little bit of their amazing characters and personalities.

I’m eager to get to know them better as we move forward in October!  I will post again soon and update you on what exactly we are working on in English and French class!

Gratitude in Year 2!

Hello Everyone!

We had a busy week in Year 2 English this week!  We did a little  bit of everything:

  1. Singing and dancing (with physical distance, of course!)

2. Revising Jolly Phonics and reading

3. Lots of talking about personal hygiene and English vocabuluary related to COVID, self-care and how we felt about confinement, the first things we did after confinement and how lovely it is to be back at school!

Here are some resources to revise at home!

Also we spent some time talking about GRATITUDE.  This is part of our self care plan.  We discussed that even though things are difficult due to the pandemic, and we feel we are missing so much, we have so much to be thankful for.

We also talked about recognizing those who help and give to us, and we can help and give to others.  Taking actions in these times helps us to feel better about the world.

To help us understand these BIG concepts, we read a story called THE GIVING TREE by Shel Silverstein.

Here is a short video version of the book to watch at home.

So many students commented that the Giving Trees in their lives are their families, friends and school.  We had some really touching conversations and I am inspired by the optimism in Year Two!

I am looking forward diving even deeper into English class with the children in the coming school year!

Dear children,

I hope you are having a wonderful time of quatily at home. I miss you very much, but I am sure this is going to make us grow, be better to ourselves and to our relatives and friends. Profit this extraordinary situation to breathe and relax. My proposal for this week is a book that I adore: «Brown bear, brown bear…What do you see?». Test you memory, check on the position of the adjectives and try to say it all together. Good luck with this challenge!!!!!!

Espero que lo estéis pasando bien y que estéis disfrutando de este tiempo de calidad en familia. Os echo mucho de menos, pero estoy segura de que vamos a crecer mucho como personas y nos va a hacer mejores personas con nosotros, así como con los demás. Disfrutad de este tiempo extraordinario para respirar y relajaros.
