This week, we have been working on the topic of the animals and the baby animals. Also, we have been practising a lot about the English sounds and phonics, especially the long vowels and how to recognise them.
We read some books and we had to find all the animals and them, and be able to speak about them:
We played some games related to the long vowels: lots of fun!
After all that fun, we relaxed a bit and got prepared for PE by listening to a beautiful story about a little nightingale…
Finally, we put into practise all our skills by simulating that we were on the beach and we met some new friends and had to introduce to each other and talk about us, our interests… Because that is, actually, the reason why we learn languages, why foreign languages are so important for everyone of us… We talked about that and understood the importance of learning with our HEADS, but also with our HEARTS. With our heads, because we need to make a lot of effort to learn, pronounce, remember words, phrases, structures… And most importantly with our hearts, because if we are not open to meet new friends, to exchange our experiences with others, and to help others to the best of our ability, then why would we need to learn a foreign language?
This week, the Green Class had so much fun during the English lesson!
We practised our communicating skills by talking between us and with the teacher about the animals, the greetings, the days of the week and the calendar…
We also spent some time playing funny games in group!
Finally, we went to La Vega and could put into practise some of the words we had learned (chicken, rooster, ladybug, butterfly…)
This week, we finished our activities related to the story The very hungry caterpillar.
Now we know what is a caterpillar, what is a butterfly, a cocoon… Among many other things!
We also practised our listening skills in this funny activity in which the kids had to guess what colour they needed to use to colour the wings of the butterfly from the clues that I gave them (i.e., «What colour is a tree?», «What colour is the sea?»…) We had a wonderful time!
We also had time to put into practise all the vocabulary about the animals that we’ve been learning during the last weeks, by this and other games we organise in the classroom, it was so exciting to see who was holding Señor Hipo when the music stopped!
Next week, we will continue learning many interesting things about the animals!
